1. The Payment Protection Model
PoddinPay provides a secure transaction layer for social commerce. When a buyer makes a payment through a PoddinPay link, the funds are not immediately sent to the seller. Instead, they are held securely by our platform to ensure that the item or service is delivered as described.
This protection model is designed to build trust between buyers and sellers on platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram, reducing the risk of fraud and non-delivery.
2. Payment Link Creation
Sellers generate secure payment links by providing item details, pricing, and their valid Nigerian bank account information. Each link is unique to a specific transaction.
When a buyer clicks a link, they are presented with the transaction details and a secure checkout page. Payments are processed via regulated financial partners (such as Paystack).
3. Transaction Holding Period
Once a buyer completes a payment, the transaction status is updated to "Paid." The funds are held in a secure virtual account meaning it is safe from the seller.
Funds remain in this protected state until one of the following occurs:
- The buyer confirms receipt of the item/service via the confirmation link.
- A dispute is resolved in favor of either party.
- The automatic completion window (typically 14 days) expires without a dispute being raised.
4. Delivery Confirmation & Payout
After the seller delivers the item, the buyer is encouraged to click the "Confirm Delivery" button on the transaction details page.
Upon confirmation, PoddinPay immediately triggers a transfer to the seller’s verified bank account. Please note that bank processing times may vary, but most transfers are completed within minutes.
5. Platform Fees
PoddinPay charges a small service fee to maintain the payment protection infrastructure. Our standard fee is 1.5% of the transaction value, capped at ₦2,500 per transaction.
This fee is typically deducted from the final payout to the seller unless otherwise specified during transaction creation.
6. Disputes & Issue Resolution
If a buyer does not receive their item or receives an item that is significantly different from the description, they may raise a dispute before confirming delivery.
PoddinPay will hold the funds and review evidence (such as delivery receipts, chat logs, and photos) from both parties to reach a fair resolution.
If a dispute is found in favor of the buyer, a refund of the protected amount (less processing fees if applicable) will be issued.
7. Automatic Completion
To protect sellers from inactive buyers, transactions will be automatically marked as "Completed" and funds released if the buyer fails to confirm delivery or initiate a dispute. This automatic release occurs 7 days after the Estimated Delivery Date elapses or 7 days after the seller formally delivered the item, whichever is applicable to the transaction timeline.
Once funds are released, the transaction is considered final and cannot be reversed by PoddinPay.
8. Violations & Penalties
To ensure the efficiency and reliability of PoddinPay transactions, we enforce strictly timed operational windows. Failure to adhere to these timelines results in automated penalties designed to compensate the inconvenienced party and maintain platform integrity.
- Seller Late Delivery: Sellers are required to deliver items on or before the Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) set during transaction creation. If delivery is not completed by the EDD, a daily late fee of ₦250 will be accrued. This total penalty amount will be automatically deducted from the seller’s final payout.
- Buyer Late Confirmation: Buyers must formally confirm receipt of an item or initiate a dispute within 48 hours of the item being marked as delivered by the seller. Failure to act within this window results in a ₦500 administrative penalty, which will be added to the transaction fees of the buyer’s next successful PoddinPay transaction.
- Extended Delivery: Sellers may request a one-time extension of the EDD if necessary. If the buyer accepts the extension and a proof of the buyer acceptance is provided to us, the late delivery penalty will only apply if the new agreed-upon date is missed.
9. Prohibited Transactions

We reserve the right to freeze funds and report suspicious activity to relevant authorities if a violation of this section is detected.
